Poo Kong temple in Semarang
Sam Poo Kong Temple is a former
haven and the first landing of a Muslim Chinese admiral named Zheng He / Cheng
Ho. This place is located in the Simongan, southwest of Semarang
city. Almost in the entire building's distinctive red shades of China
building.
Because of less clear history,
the Indonesian Chinese descent consider building was a temple because of
Chinese architecture to look like a temple. Now the place was used as a
memorial and a place of worship or a place for worship and pilgrimage. For this
purpose, in the cave was placed a stone altar and statues of Sam Po Tay
Djien. Though admiral Cheng Ho was a Muslim, but the Chinese consider him
a god. This is understandable considering Confucianism or Tau considered a
deceased person to provide aid to them.
